Habersham Co. - Earlier this week, Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell made the announcement that he will be seeking re-election as sheriff.
“I thank the Lord every day that I’ve been blessed to serve as the sheriff of Habersham County for going on 12 years,” Terrell says in a statement. “I thank the citizens of our county for the support they have shown me every day as their sheriff.”
Terrell continues, saying “Through the ups and the downs, the good times and the bad, it has been my honor to serve. I am seeking re-election for the office of sheriff of Habersham County.”
If elected, Terrell would be serving his fourth term.
“Seems just like yesterday,” Terrell says in an interview with WCHM. “Time flies when your having fun.”
Terrell goes on to say the reason why he decided to run for sheriff before his first term. “I wanted to help make a difference in my community.”
Terrell goes on to describe how much the community loves their law enforcement and shows their gratitude by providing treats to the offices, offering to pay for lunches and just simple compliments.
“They appreciate the job these men and women do when they go out there,” Terrell says.
When asked if he expects any opposition in for the position, Terrell responds “I don’t know. We’ll wait and see. I don’t know what’s in store.”
So far, there have been no public announcements regarding other candidates for the spot.
Qualifying is March 2-6.
