Habersham Man Killed In Freightliner Tractor-Trailer Accident

Hall Co. - A fatal accident on Interstate 985 in Hall County ended with the death of 26-year-old Christopher Noel Baker.

The Georgia State Patrol reports that Chistopher “Chris” Noel Baker was driving along Interstate 985 Monday when his Toyota Prius failed to stop after approaching a Freightliner tractor-trailer, causing him to crash near along construction by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The tractor-trailer was driven by 44-year-old Donnie Wilson of Columbus, Georgia. Wilson was reported to have sustained no injuries during the incident.

According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Baker was traveling northbound in the left-hand lane when failed to stop behind the Freightliner tractor-trailer, causing Baker’s vehicle to travel partially under the rear of the trailer and ultimately catching on fire.

The driver of the Freightliner was able to extinguish the flames.

Baker was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville and later died from his injuries.

Baker, who is from Habersham County, is the son of realtor Alan Wayne Baker, also of Habersham. 

No charges were filed during the accident.
