Habersham County Sees First Drive-Up Testing Site; Over 300 Tested

Cornelia - Over 300 people were able to get tested for COVID-19 while Habersham County saw its first drive-up testing site over the weekend.

In partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Health, Habersham Emergency Services, and local public safety officials from Cornelia and Habersham County, Habersham Medical Center (HMC) held a COVID-19 drive-up testing event Sunday, April 26.

The site was set up at the parking lot of Belks and the Old Ingles, 199 Habersham Co Shopping Center in Cornelia.

335 tests were administered for free to those with any symptoms associated with the coronavirus. “The turnout was about three times more than what we expected,” said HMC spokeswoman Kesha Clinkscale.

Those who were tested can expect to receive their results within two to three business days.
