Gov. Kemp Issues Order Deputizing Sheriffs

Atlanta - Today Governor Brian P. Kemp issued Executive Order to deputize sheriffs for enforcement of Executive Order (shelter-in-place order).

The order would authorize sheriffs to enforce the provisions of the shelter-in-place order involving businesses, establishments, for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, and organizations. The order would grant them authority until April 13, which is when Kemp's shelter-in-place order would dissipate.

This allows sheriffs along with deputies to close any business, organization, or etc. that is not complying with Gov. Kemp's executive shelter-in-place order. Individuals who do not comply with the order may be charged with a misdemeanor.
