Georgia State Patrol Investigating Death of 59-Year-Old Biker

Stephens Co. - Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is currently investigating a bicycle accident that resulted in the death of a 59-year-old man.

According to GSP, the man was riding along Black Mountain Road near Toccoa when the victim veered off the road and into a ditch, where the front wheel of the bike caused the victim to be ejected off, causing him to hit his head on some rocks, where he allegedly died at the scene.

The victim was found in Stephens County Monday morning by GSP. Authorities noted that it accident appeared to have happened either earlier that day or the day prior. No other vehicle is said to have been involved.

The name of the victim is not released due to authorities notifying next of kin. His body has been transported to Georgia Bureau of Investigation State Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy.
