Erwin's First Statement After HD 28 Win

In his first public comments since winning the House District 28 seat by only two votes, Chris Erwin states that it's time to, "put campaign politics behind us and work together to do what’s best for our District."  In a race that many believe is not completely over due to the small margin of victory and the impending recount, Erwin still believes that he will come out on top, and has already started discussions with other members of the General Assembly.  According to a report on AccessWDUN, "Gasaway plans to request a recount at the prescribed time after the state certifies the election results next week,"  but would not elaborate on if he intends to file a lawsuit again over the election process.

"This has been a long and winding road to get to this point. I am proud of the support I received throughout the District and we worked hard to win this special election. After months of campaigning and court battles, I am happy to turn the page and get busy with working hard for the citizens of our community and our State. I’ve already been meeting with leaders throughout the District to get up to speed on what are community needs and meeting with leaders of the General Assembly to establish good working relationships to benefit our District. Once again, I want to thank all of our supporters and all the voters who took time to participate in our great Democracy. Now we must put campaign politics behind us and work together to do what’s best for our District."
