Demorest - A Clarkesville woman managed to escape a rollover wreck without injuries after striking a utility pole.
At approximately 2:55 p.m. Friday, April 24, Donna James, 53, of Clarkesville was traveling north in a red 2008 Saturn Vue on SR 105, south of Old Cannon Bridge Road, negotiating a curve.
"The driver failed to maintain her lane, stating she briefly looked away from the road," says Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Toccoa Assistant Post Commander CPL. John Getty.
James proceeded to travel off the east shoulder of the roadway, where the front of her vehicle struck a mailbox, then a utility pole. The vehicle overturned onto a fence and came to an uncontrolled final rest.
According to Getty, James reported she was not injured.
A section of Cannon Bridge Road was closed while emergency personnel worked to free James from the vehicle. The utility pole and electrical lines were replaced shortly after.
