Almost $11 million in county projects will be considered at tonight’s county commission meeting. Much of that money in SPLOST 7 is designated for repairs to roads and bridges. And the agenda also suggests Baldwin may wish to re-enter an automatic aid relationship with the county after dropping it in 2018. This relates to emergency services that the county provides to the south end of the county. At that time, members of the Baldwin city council were frustrated with what they thought was an unfair compensation formula. Though recently, the council has come up with their own version which may be presented tonight.


White County and its municipalities, Cleveland and Helen are updating their joint Comprehensive Plan. And the White county government is interested in knowing what its residents think of their services. A survey was sent out Friday asking for opinions on fire protection, police safety and parks and rec among other subjects. The context of the survey suggests the county is bracing for significant highway development in the coming years.
