Habersham County Chamber of Commerce is inviting any Habersham County resident wishing to visit the State Capitol in Atlanta and visit with legislators to sign up for the Habersham County Day at the Capitol.
The event will be on Wednesday, February 19th.
“In its’ tenth year, the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce has developed this event as a way for members of the community to interact with and learn more about the legislative process of our state,” according to the press release provided by Habersham Chamber of Commerce President Mary Beth Horton. “It is also an opportunity to promote Habersham County to all Georgians through the General Assembly.”
“This year we will have both our Leadership and Youth Leadership classes with us, and we are excited especially for the students to join us on this experience,” explained Mary Beth Horton, Habersham Chamber of Commerce President. “We have arranged for our group to meet privately with Senator John Wilkinson and Representatives Terry Rogers and Chris Erwin as well as other elected officials.
A chartered bus will leave the Cornelia Depot at 7:30 a.m. and arrive at the Capitol about 9:00 a.m. The group should be back in Habersham by 4:00 p.m. or before.
A fee of $30 will cover riding the bus and having lunch with the group at the Capitol. Those who drive and join the group at the Capitol will need to pay the Chamber $20 for lunch.
All attendees need to register with the Chamber.
The Chamber’s 2020 Leadership/Youth Leadership Habersham class will be included among those attending.
Horton states that “However, anyone wishing to help represent Habersham County is welcome and encouraged to go.”
