The Habersham Sheriff's Office has identified the shooter in Monday's incident at Highway 115 and Mineral Springs Trail that injured 20 year old Drake Free of Cornelia.
In an exclusive interview, Major Murray Kogod tells WCHM news that 20-year old Cameron Wiley of White County was arrested this morning on one count of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
In a new twist, the Sheriff's office also arrested Free who, Kogod says, was there to rob Wiley. Free, meanwhile, is recovering from a bullet to the arm and is in stable condition.
Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink in parts of Cornelia or to pay for at city hall. WCHM reported yesterday that the city had restored most of its service in the wake of last month’s cyberterrorism attack...but customers still aren’t able to get their water bills quite yet because of the interruption. On top of that, a water main break caused Cornelia to order a boil water advisory in the area of Wood and Hoyt streets.
And Demorest has found a new city attorney and city accountant. Thomas Mitchell of Buford replaces Joey Homans as attorney and Alan Burton of Lavonia will serve as city accountant.
