6-Year-Old Boy Hit In Roadway Transported To NGMC; Driver Charged With DUI

Clarkesville - A 6-year-old boy that was hit in the middle of roadway by a DUI driver, was transported to hospital Sunday night.  

6-year-old Jariah Jones of Clarkesville was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with possible injuries after being struck by a 2012 GMC Acadia, driven by 44-year-old Renita Folds of Cornelia.
The incident occurred at 5:45 Sunday night, March 29, on Ed Carroll Drive at Lockwood Street. 

According to Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa, Folds was traveling South on Ed Carroll Drive in Clarkesville when Jones “entered the roadway.” Folds proceeded to strike the child with the front passenger’s side of the vehicle.

Folds was uninjured but charged with driving under the influence (DUI) by GSP.
